.bepf - Big Endian Prebuilt Format File
The BEPF data files are related to NeXTSTEP. BEPF file is a Big Endian Prebuilt Format File. Prebuild is used to build a binary file format known as the prebuilt file for use by the NEXTSTEP Window Server. It takes as input a number of standard Adobe Bitmap Description format files and produces a much more compact binary representation of the bits in those files. The NeXTSTEP seems to be no longer supported.
Naturally, other applications may also use the .bepf file extension. Even harmful programs can create .bepf files. Be especially cautious with .bepf files coming from an unknown source!
